Title: broken 454 at tpm
Post by: 454berkeley on January 10, 2012, 07:32:13 PM
well i was having fun  and then my motor threw up and took a rod out and made windows in the oil pan and went on a rampage took the  cam and a few lifters and a push rod with.  but i had a blast out there other than that. well does any one know a good reliable set up for a  454 18 foot jet and i might be getting a place diverter and  putting my loader in the  intake. right  now i have  the  small steel heads ported with stainless ex valves, srp pistons no clue on the  comp i run 91 octane, had a comp cam  now looking  for better one lol, hyd flat tappet and knock of roller rockers and  cast crank but 4bolt block (hoping  its still good) and i  have now 7 dot rods looking  into some new rods in the  price range

and  also i seen and heard the  boat with  center exit exaust why does it sound like  the  motor is so lite inside expecially on a jet
that was just  mind bogling to me   but  thanks for any  help jeremy ;D

I think he is talking about "MadSkills" Nicks 180 degree headers.  They make it sound like it's spinning 12000rpm.

I meant to write you blew your motor not you your motor  :screwy:

Nicks boat almost sounds like an Indy or Formula One car with those headers.

The 180 degree headers do have a distinct sound,, they've been around for a long time, I've seen (and heard) them on dirt track cars for over 30 years.  Couple of circle race boats too.

Nick built them to fit the boat   http://www.socaljetboats.com/engine-mechanical-electrical/custom-headers/msg147539/#msg147539 (http://www.socaljetboats.com/engine-mechanical-electrical/custom-headers/msg147539/#msg147539)

I'm sure he would be more than happy to build you a set.... for a fee $$$  ;)
