Ok kids, it's that again, time for the annual Father's Day trip to Big River. Big River Inn is booked, so if you don't have a room there, you can try Motel 6 in Parker, the KOFA Inn, it's only a short drive to Big River & another year of SCJB shenanigans, don't miss it....

Motel 6 is the closest to BR and the parking for boats is good. Unguarded but good. Next door to decent Mex and Burger King too.

There is the Motel 6 (aka Bridge Inn), Kofa Inn, El Rancho, Best Western, Bluewater Resort & Casino all in parker which is about a 10 minute drive from Big River.
...and for the record, El Sarape (the mexican restaurant GC mentioned above) moved to a much smaller location on California Ave (the 95 headed out to PHX)

Right on! I have been gone overseas every summer for a while and have missed all these events on the river. Got my boat down to Big River last weekend and left it at my family's place, so now I just got to jump in the Vette and haul ass from Vegas to BR.

Launch at big river day beach and if nobody is there, head upriver. Watch the bottom if you haven't been there before. There is a rock pile about 80 ft to the Arizona side of the second island past the rv park....hug the island on the AZ side.

even though its marked, someone from our group hits it every year. :screwy:
best advice to anyone that its their first time on this section river is follow someone up. its not the most difficult section of the river to navigate, but sometimes helps if someone points out the danger areas.

Lol second island. right where you can go back in that channel. (only attempt at when water is all the way up and then some) there used to be a boys scout camp back there. (my uncle took his boat back there about 10 yrs ago. nothing but cat tails). floated down from the bridge in a tube in the early morning a few years ago and there is rebar sticking out of concrete blocks!!

danny, cnc and waterjet are just 2 different processes of cutting out the design. Cnc is what i do and waterjet is literally just that, a very high psi jet of water that cuts through the aluminum. So no it wouldnt make a difference the same aluminum is used in both. :thumbup: :beer:

Water jet just cuts the shape of the piece. With cnc milling you can get all fancy ball milling the piece thinner in spots and shit like that.

if you're near long beach....I've got a halfass shop, we can come with something. I've got a nice bracket somewhere that mounts the box to the 3 holes on a bbc head...but I've got no idea where it is.

i will be there without a boat. Dealing with the race boat, race gas, etc was a chore at the Avi and I didnt get as much video footage as I would have liked. So I am planning on 'working' this trip and getting as much footage for the video for this event.

Im not... hahah.. Hey Danny same thing is happening to my boat that urs did at the avi.. not getting spark.. Gonna break out the test light in a little and find out what the heck happend.. I took a huge ass wave over the bow about 2 feet tall lol, almost knocked the wind out of me :screwy: Wonder if some of the water I took on has something to do with it.. Anyways, see you all soon !! :thumbup:

Hey Sam, do you have a MSD box ?
If so there will be no power at the coil with just the key on, and don't hook a test light or meter on the coil when
turning the motor over because there will too much power to it if your box is working 'cause of the capacitive discharge.
You can take the coil wire out of the distributor and put it to ground, then unhook the purple and green lead
from the dist. and jump the 2 terminals together from the box and if it is operational you should get spark at the
grounded coil wire. If no spark check the coil also. You know how I know. ::)

I have a complete, almost new, hydraulic place diverter Jason (Riverdad) has had plugging up his shop for a year or so now. Might be a good opportunity to get it HERE where I kinda need it now. Hell I haven't even talked to Jason in quite awhile.........

Sooo, In a nutshell, either could probably provide you with +/- 50 PSI boost @ various RPM, depending on drive ratio right out of the box.
But there IS NO 8-71 Mooneyham in my stash.........(kinda like "there is no spoon"......)

Danny Yes I have a msd box and luckily it didnt get wet at all, it was the coil !! Swapped it out with a spare I had and it has spark again :thumbup: . Stupid coil almost made me total my boat!! :banghead:

How do you figure that? a 125 shot plate system is under $400, adjustables to 200 not a whole lot more. Wouldn't try more than 125 unless the engine was built for it anyway, myself, just as you would a turbo/blower motor.

The price I looked at was complete, solenoids and all. Dunno what a window switch is, don't care. Personally, don't like the idea of nitrous on a boat for any reason. Just begging for LEO attention and problems IMO. However, CAN make for some short bursts of tremendous fun! ;)

I have limited time to work on it and need every bit of time I can get. I had a pretty set schedule to make this race, but Jeg's just fucked up my order and didnt ship it out today as promised, so rather than getting the parts I need by Wednesday, I wont see them until Thursday now.
So it looks like I wont arrive until Friday morning - worst case friday night.

Come on up. You can get in a couple hours of water time before it starts flowing down there. If you come up to Emerald Cove come in to the left of the guard shack and don't stop (pretend you own the place), drive straight toward the water and take a left on the last road. I'm almost to the end of the road.

Looks like the wife and I are going to make it down there. I get off work at 8am on Friday and we will be heading out as soon as I get home.
As of right now we are booked in at the 6 in parker.
I have a couple of questions. Where will every one be hanging out? Is it better to launch in Parker and run down river or tow down to Big river, If the latter, where to launch in Big River? Never been down there so if there is any thing else I may need to know, please let me know.

We all gather and launch at the big river park. Day use with launch is like $18. After a day on the water we normally go to Catfish Cantina for food then to Dumas Walker for the after party.

Sadly the local tribe raised the rates. Its now $25 for a truck and trailer per day. Its totally ridiculous. I talked to a few people on the phone about getting a group rate but just never happened. Ill try to pull some strings in the morning, but it looks grim. They got us by the nuts as its the only public ramp on that section of river.

There are still some bugs. I changed the manifold to a dual carb set up. the timing was a little messed up. Ill have her fixed before next time. then hopefully i can leave it alone.
