Title: clear coat
Post by: bcarson on August 09, 2011, 07:25:32 PM
I'm custom painting my boat and was wondering if anyone else has used automotive grade clears on theirs. I'm only painting the top surfaces (deck, dash, etc). All I'm really worried about is scratch resistance. Please let me know if anyone has had any luck with any particular product. Thanks.

Thank you both for the input. I will look at those products, I'm very familiar with imron... and it is indeed very tough. I am a custom painter by trade, and can't wait to lay down something nasty on this boat! I'm using house of kolor base... I just know the clear I typically use will scratch like hell as soon as the deck is walked across.

Imron paint rocks but Imron fumes will kill you!   Don't shortcut whatever safety precautions you need to take.
