ok so i bought a pair of teek swim steps and now am tryin to figure out how to mount them.. easy right? well i have a question.. when im looking at the brackets they say 12 deg or 16 deg... so which one do i use???

i've never had a swim step but i think it depends on the angle of your transom. if you didn't choose the right one your step wont be parallel with the water. get a angle finder and put it against the transom to see what you have. iphone probably has an app for that :D
hope this helps

Do you have any pics of your boat from the side in the water? Set them on something up towards were you plan to mount...take a pic an compare. Mine are mounted bout 1-2 inches off the water and they are even with water when I sit on them. Some will install to be even when boat just sits in water. I used a floor jack and a level to get my hull level to install square to hull. I also used some 1/4 x 2" aluminum back plates to ensure they are solid as I am bout 240lbs. Post some pics of what you have...boat and steps.
