Another question i have is how does the fuel switch work? I can try to explain, i can also take pictures later this evening.
My Bahner has twin aluminum tanks on the sides of the boat, they appear to be about 15 gallon tanks.
When i bought the boat the left side tank was full to the brim and the right side tank was empty, the previous owner told me that he has never filled up the left tank and the he only ever filled up the right tank.
So while i was doing the oil change i noticed there is what appears to be some sort of valve where the two tanks connect to the main feed line to the carb. It was pointing towards the Right Tank. I turned it to the left tank and then we took the boat out.
In fear that maybe the pickup was broken i filled the Right tank completely so that i had both tanks full to the brim. I did not mess with the Valve and we took the boat out. Now with the boat running i can hear electric fuel pumps which sound like they are on both sides (maybe a lift pump?) The part that im confused about is the engine also has a mechanical fuel pump which seems to pull from the two tanks and feeds the Carb.
Now what my main question is, do i have to switch this valve to where it is pointing to the tank i want to use? Is there a "middle" setting to where it will pull from both tanks? The reason i ask is because i never messed with the valve while it was on the water and both tanks seem to be at the same level of fuel as if they are feeding eachother? I can take a picture of the valve tonight if that helps.

That type of valve doesn't have the ability to draw from both tanks at the same time. It has a 90' port that will flow from one side inlet to the center outlet or when turned will flow from the other side inlet to the center outlet in the opposite direction through the port.
I don't see an electric pump in any of the photos. You need to follow the hoses and see what you are working with. The mechanical pump will pull from either tank through the valve without problems.

Thanks for the info, i cant find an electric pump either, but i swear i can hear one with it running. But not with the key on. Could it be the drive making the noise? Is it possible that it may have an electric fuel pump inside of the tanks?

Pretty standard dual tank valve set-up.
The pointer (not the hanlde/lever) should be pointing to the tank you are drawing from. there is no 'middle', I believe that would be off, cant remember.

Unless you have more wiring going to the tanks than shown in the pics, you don't have an electric pump hiding inside your tanks :o

looks like a typical seachoice 3 way brass fuel valve. obviously the first 2 are left and right... but is the 3rd option both tanks or "OFF"?

if its both, it will always suck from the closest/easiest side. i would avoid running one tank all the way to empty, it puts a lot of weight on one side of the boat, which in our tiny boats makes things interesting ride wise.
also if it is both it might be worthwhile to grab a different valve or put ball valves on the tank pickups. being able to shut off the gas is a good safety measure.
Thanks that looks like the valve, ill try the third option and see what happens. any ideas on what the noise im hearing could be? It sounds just liek a holley blue pump running (i have one on my streetcar) but it appears that its not connected to the fuel system. I verified the bilge and blower are off. And the motor for the trim pump is really quiet when it is running. Maybe its the drive? It makes the noise even if its in neutral though, hence the idea it might have been a fuel pump

I like being able to draw from both tanks at once. Keeps the boat riding evenly and I don't have to switch sides because I put gas in it whenever available and it never fluctuates more than an eighth of a tank if you start the weekend with both tanks full.

I had one of those valves for one trip or so. It wasn't clocked right, so it had to point downward for left tank and point to the right for the right tank... Did this instead. The teflon leaked so I used motoseal afterwards.

Lol you guys crack me up, yeah its an I/O, I like it it seems to get the job done for me anyways. Just doesnt ride as nice as a jet
