Title: 21? liberator dominator pump
Post by: Howardgaebel on July 04, 2023, 06:56:35 PM
Have a dominator jet in my boat with an oil-less bowl. I?ve looked at the pump has no play I popped the nozzle off to see if I can thread a grease-able Berkley bowl cap in and I can?t( no threads) pump performs as it should . But when it runs on the garden hose at low rpm it makes a bad sound deep grinding almost like the thrust bearing is smoked but it has plenty of grease. Noise doesn?t happen in the river. If you rev the boat above 1k rpm?s on the trailer it also goes away (try not to rev boat out of water only for troubleshooting reasons).   Someone told me the older dominators are notorious for making noise just curious if that?s fact or fiction thanks guys. I?ll try to get a video of the noise later in the week. Don?t think it?s motor related at all steady oil pressure motor performs as it should.

Sounds like the older Dominator bowl with glacial bearing, (bushing) that is water lubed.

Try blasting the intake of the pump with another hose when firing it up on the hose.
