we usually set up the trailer at the beginning of april. waters still a little chilly but there is no crowds. me and a friend of mine were talking about doing a martinez run this year, is there any hotels on the water down that way?
-
Not any hotels but you can rent little bungalows.
-
heard there was a boat up bar/restaraunt down theresomewhere, is that true? were planning on doing a long float, stay the night down river and motor back up the next day deal. launching someplace up river then staying somewhere down river. last time i was down that way i was about 10 years old so i bet things have changed and i cant remember that well.
-
You can get gas at walters camp and if im there ill motor on down from there to martinez with you guys.
-
There is docks out back behind the bar where you can leave your boat overnight. The bar is in the same parking lot as the bungalow's and the resturant , there is also a gas dock right there.
Other then being a little more run down , I bet it is still mostly the same. Except last season they asphalted the whole place and rumor has it they are redoing the docks this season.

Sorry to sound like a rook (and I am) but where is Martinez? I've heard people on here talk about it and was just curious.

We can't get there from here, Yet. We usually don't do driving/trailering trips, I Own my own place on the Allegheny River In the First Natural pool, It's great, Jet boat, jet ski, small boat accessible but Not anything that can't do a 200 foot stretch of 2 foot deep water, Keeps the traffic low and privacy high and I'm way into that. Problem is no winter access, Even when there is it's not good boating so we just wait till it thaws then Play hard.We should be able to drive there this week or next, My driveway is still iced over.. My first trip will probably be sometime in late april probably going to Laughlin. To answer Mblack's question Lake Martinez is down in the Yuma AZ area, but i have never been there.
