Title: Computer repair
Post by: 74hondo on March 01, 2012, 03:52:35 PM
I saw a thread awhile back of everyone offering help in different areas or use of facilities so I thought I would chime in. I didn't find the thread but still. I have been doing professional computer repair for almost ten years. I currently work for geeksquad for the past two years. I know it might be limited because of distance, but I can offer low price repair to locals and will definitely consider trades for those a bit farther away. And definitely willing to do some work at any events on laptops etc... Just throwing it out there because I know how much we charge to fix. Looking for to finally making it to a gathering this coming season!!!!

the product key under your laptop is most likely for your copy of windows, not for office.  if you DO have a legit copy you can usually call if its for the same version/edition.  theres many ways to obtain software but i wont be discussing them on this forum.   :)
It reads Microsoft office product key, and I've entered it several times and it doesn't like me.

Ditto, plenty of ways to get office free but I won't say them here. Now open office is free and a decent substitute. My skill set is mostly repair and virus removal, hardware install. I don't really do networking stuff, but only because I never got into it or needed to learn it.

New computers do not come with office full version keys. It is probably a windows 7 key on the bottom of your laptop. Check out open office unless you want to buy office

Bingo.

I have open office on my old laptop, new one won't let me finish the setup process. I guess I'll have to buy it...  ....;)
