The wrench, when put on with that little lockdown for it, also has hex cutouts on either end that lock both the handhole cover nuts from backing out. The strap also no worky for that, either, even with Nylock nuts.

I always keep the wrench there on mine, with the exception of set back or JE style pumps (Wouldn't stay there very long on those). Serves two purposes.......

My Jacuzzi WJ has the wrench/hold-down on it, just didn't know that berk had a similar thing. The berk I have has the snap/twist thingy on it, just no wrench. And who has a Chevy and DOESN'T carry a 9/16" wrench?

Well I think I have a temp fix for the weekend after scavenging for stuff and a trip to lowes.
1. Ob dump
2. Brass rod nut
3. Ss washer.

I cut the head off the ob dump and the body threads into the steering arm and the inner diameter is just right for the cable to slip through. Put the retaining clip on the cable, put the ss washer into the brass open end rod nut and tighten it down. Bam, the cables secured in my mig shift cable clamp and it threads right into the steering arm and for safe measure I used the nut for the ob dump to lock it in place. Kinda hard to describe so here's the pics. I also included a pic to show that the brass nut threads on just about all the way. Without the ss washer to take up the free space it was loose but with it in there it's nice and tight.


Complete Micky mouse job but at least ill have some control over the jet at the docks when running it on the trailer and if I feel brave enough I just may make a lap around the lake.......maybe. It's cold

call me crazy but on my steering arm i have a hole drilled thru the excess bolt with a cotter pin to prevent the nut from backing out.  you wont know the nut has loosened until you have no steering and that will be BAAAAD.

just something to think about.

Mine is mounted the same way, no cotter pin needed with the steering arm being threaded and the extra nut works as a lock nut.  I don't think you will have a problem as long as the lock nut is tight.

ka0tyk isn't kidding. I had a bolt fall out of my reverse bucket once because the nut backed off and fell of the top like that. Was fine until I lifted and then nailed it again.......you know how they say a Jet Boat can stop within it's own length.......well, they AIN'T KIDDING!!....Damn close to it!!....Had the bruise marks on my thighs to prove it and thank god I wasn't any where near full tilt or I'da been swimming with broken legs, most likely. Thank god also I was running solo.....

Ralph Brunt to the rescue with a tool box in his truck (bigger'n most of the Strap-ons in our garages, prolly) full of bolts, nuts, and even had a shouldered bolt the right size and a nylock nut to fix the fugger right on the beach. Ran it from the top down, this time.......

I realize your steering bolt MAY be set up, and threaded, to be installed that way from the steering cable. Mine was similar on the JB on Pickle. I drilled the threads out of the steering arm, picked up a correct S/S shouldered bolt from "Fred's" here locally and dropped it in from the top.

Just a word to the wise..........

Ran great, no leaks. However when I got home I went to fire it up and I'm hearing a nasty noise but when it's running I her nothing. Hopefully it's the starter. How would I know if I spun a bearing.

Well it was the starter. One of the bolts that hold the motor itself to the mount came out. So all in all a good day

So im getting ready to pull the motor and clean it up and repaint it. Just can't figure a color. Don't really want to paint it black again but can't decide what color would go with the green on the boat, what do you guys think?
