You obviously have a problem owning something with a bowtie on it.  You should just give the whole mess to me  >:D   ;D

I think once you get the bugs (leaks) taken care of you will enjoy that boat.  Don't give up.

Yeah..Ralph should feel priviledged to finally own a chevy....otherwise, it probably would have never made it to the ramp in the first place for him to discover the holes in the bottom of the boat, which were probably drilled by a ford guy any way.   It probably runs pretty good if the carb isn't put together upside down and backwards. ;D

ok, the saga continues, i tear into the sending unit and what do you know, there is no gasket in there :banghead:
the log on the passenger side a steady drip so i figure i need some new gaskets, keep in mind that these are edelbrock logs witch take 3 bolts and not your standard 4 bolts. i call up my bud jim brock at cyclone speed and marine, tell him what i need and he says that he has the sending unit gasket but the log gaskets he has are the 4 bolt :banghead:. no big deal he says just make new holes in the gaskets. so i run out to his shop and get the sending unit gasket and 4 log gaskets cause i figure i will fork this up some how.

i get home fix the sending unit, put new gasket in the log and that some bitch still leaks :banghead: :screwy: so i remove it again and inspect it closer and the log looks like some body has dropped it and bent the mating surface. i have a set of hardin logs so no biggie rite?

i set about to install the new gasket in the hardin log (4bolt) get it all together and look at the exit side of the snail, ah shit, it's a 3 inch not 3 1/2 like the edelbrock. in the pursuit of looking cool the kid i got the boat from put 4 inch tips in the transom  :screwy: so now my exhaust hose wont fit. call jim brock and tell him what has happend and im really frusterated about now. he says just drill the edelbrock snail for the hardin log. so, here goes gasket #3 i do as instructed and i tell you what, jim brock is a genious (sp?) in my book. i install my home made contraption and what do you know it dont leak water.

Well good Ralphie...you're learnin how to work on Chebies....I'm proud o' you.  It should be noted that I...owner of the busted wonder (how's that for a boat name....), didn't put a wrench to my shit all of father's day weekend while Ralph with his Ford, asked to borrow a tool, from me, to fix his ford.  I found that funny.

Now, hook that bitch up and come to BR this weekend.  I've got room in the trailer for you and the fam.

I think we need to set Ralph up for an anger management class........ ;D

LOL! Been there with those frustrations, bro! Thinking "Why the fock would someone do it this way?"  Like the 3" drywall screws run into the Big Twin projects tanks... :screwy:  But then, I've done my own share of damage..... :banghead:

Sounds like you're getting all the gremlins out though!

well after some more fiddlin around with the boat and changing carbs we took it back out today and it ran flawless. I almost thought it had a ford in it for a minute :sly:

i gave her all she had and she gave me 4500 rpm on the A impeller with no farting or popping. we then idled around naples island for about an hour, took a few more laps around the stadium and loaded her up. next trip the lake.

#1 son took the boat up to Huntington Lake to spend the weekend with my mom. I told him put it on the trailer at night, but my mom arranged for him to use the dock, so he left it in overnight. When he went down to the lake Sunday morning, the water was just lapping over the transom. As it turns out, there was a little leak where the exhaust hose connected to the port side bell--just a drop every 5 seconds. Well the more drops, the lower in the water it sat, and the faster the drops came. By the time I got there, just the front 5' of the bow was above the water, and the jet pump was sitting on the bottom. We ended up forcing the bow down so we could pivot the front under the dock, and attached a bow line to the eye. We took out the plug, and towed the boat until most of the water was out, then bailed the rest and put it back on the trailer. It was one of those crisis boating days, but now we laugh about whenever the subject comes. We ended up pulling the engine--mostly because it already needed a refresh, and then converted it to EFI, and had it back on the water within 2 weeks.
