Title: Just trying to help a friend
Post by: GlassCutter on October 11, 2011, 10:46:32 PM
I have a good friend who has 4 vehicles stored and must move them before the end of the week.  There is one old very small travel trailer, one 15' fishing boat, one baja bug, and one Chevy P/U.  They are in Corona and must be moved.  I think the boat is most definately for sale along with the travel trailer.  The boat has all new everything from front to back but hasn't been used in 3 years.  The trailer ain't much but it does have electric brakes and is usable but it is 40 yrs. old.  The baja has a hi perf 1776 (I think) but car need engine/trans bolted and wired in.  Motor runs like a raped ape but car is ugly.
He needs to sell or store these things ASAP.  He would entertain all offers at this point.  PM me if anyone can help find a new home for these beauties.  It would really help him out as they will be sold regardless.  Either he gets the money or the county does.  Again he only has until Friday to get them gone.

What's the status on the fishin' boat? I could use a bass killer while upholstery gets done this winter.

I haven't heard from him so I don't think that is bad news.  I am pretty sure that if he gotten access he would have called me to lend a hand moving them.  Last I heard he was trying to line up a sheriff or marshall to go with him, but that was going to require a letter from the court.  I will keep you guys up to date when I hear anything.   Divorce is a terrible thing.

Stuff is gettin moved next Saturday.  People have called about the bug and the boat, thanks for that.  You guys can expect calls soon, I just re-sent him your numbers.
There is still a small travel trailer circa 1975.  Not worth much but take off the walls just to keep the frame/axles/electric brakes and make a nice work trailer.   $150 and some beer?

How rough is the travel trailer? Like livable at all? Thats a decent drive for me so think she'd hold up? Im half ass in the market for a cheap travel trailer.

Don't know at this point really.  It has been stored a long time.  I think it had some issues with a rotted floor in one corner, but not sure what we will find now.

Well alright then
Boat is gone to a very cool tow truck guy
Trailer gone in only a few hours on CL
Somebody please come get the VW outta my boats dry dock (Mom's driveway)
And the Chevy truck is resting comfortably awaiting a currently unknown buyer looking for a good deal.
To recap:  77 Chevy 1500 shortbed with a healthy 350.  Been sitting for many years.  Steel crank, good heads, ClaySmith RV type cam, trans kit.  Interior is rough, body is straight but seriously needs paint.  Owner would probably seperate but he'd probably take $1000 OBO for the whole deal.  Truck is currently in Norco.  Pink in hand

PM sent Tio.
I can't get any pix but likely they would scare you off anyway.   Car is terribly rough, basically needs everything including tires and fiberglass.  Had a real nice motor at one time but it has been sitting for years with no carbs on the intake so now who knows.  The owner does understand and is only looking to get a few hundred for it.

OK I have been holding this VW for Willow Wog since Halloween but he doesn't seem to want it enough to come get it sooo  .  .

basically it needs a ton of work -- new fiiberglass, new tires, new window seals, basically way too much to put it on the street IMHO.  But if you wanted to go offroad with it, it does have a well built 1776 ? with an expensive carb ( I don't speak VW) and a good trans.   It has been sitting for years but drivetrain is low mileage.  I have the pink slip because it is being stored at my house, but it technically belongs to my buddy.  Any offer will be considered.  Oh yeah, even has a tow bar on the front, just hook up and go!
Also still trying to unload the 79 shortbed Chevy, better condition but still a bit rough.  Again healthy 350 appx. 375 HP low mileage but has been sitting for years.  The truck can be had cheap, the motor may cost a reasonable amount.
C'mon fellas time to spend that cash that Santa brought ya !                                             Ya I'm begging but I need my driveway back !

Does the VW have current registration or is it non-op'ed?

I suspect no non-op but I think they drop it after 7 yrs. and I think it has been sitting longer than that.  I can check into it better tomorrow.   I think the truck may have been non-op'd.

From what I understand the DMV no longer drops vehicles from the system for inactivity.  I know this has been in force for several years but I don't know when it started.  Unfortunately could change the value of both vehicles.

I have a trailer and room for another VW. i could part it out up here to the off road guys. Bugs are very common and people are always looking for parts. I am actually building 3 different vws right now so i could probably use some parts myself. I can come get it this weekend if you want. Also a cell phone pic of the engine bay and one of the front end would help me out.

either way let me know 949-677-2468

love that place. I just got a baby on the way now and might not be going enough for a few years. I will probably buy there again when the kid is old enough to enjoy it.
