Sorry in advance if this is dumb. I'm thinking on striping my trailer and powder coating it. But I'm not sure about what I should do with the leaf springs. What works best? Thanks in advance

Not a dumb question, I've wondered the same thing. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer.
Maybe call a trailer shop and see what they say. ???
There is a member here, River Dad, that builds/refurbishes trailers, ROKE custom trailers. Maybe send him a PM.

Biggest problem with powder coat is that is does not like standard bondo. They do make a powder coat friendly body filler, but it costs a bit and is harder to work with. We are getting ready to do a PC trailer for a CP and we are leaving all the welds exposed, so we will see how it turns out....

Will you color match paint over the welds? What about the springs? Will the PC crack when the springs flex?

Pretty sure what he’s saying is that instead of applying bondo over the welds while the trailer is still raw steel they’ll be leaving the welds exposed then powder coating. Not welding after powder coat.

Correct..... Not sure on the spring issue, this one is a torsion deal.....

That little bit if bondo won’t make a difference.
Powder coat is not good for boat trailers. The powder coat makes a shell over the steel. Water can get in between the steel and powder coat and rust. Your better off painting it. As far as the springs you can powder coat those also. Just remove any rubber, seals. They will melt. They heat it up to 400 degrees for the coat.

I tend to agree..... not a fan of powder coating trailers....
