finally decided to start a project thread after 5 months of owning this thing here we go. We went to the pomona swap meet in octoberber and we came home with a 1974 dimarco vdrive runnerbottom and half of a 2 car garage floor full of new and used aluminum parts, seats and and stainless steel tanks for $1800. ;D

new gelcoat was done in early 2010 but was in a garage under a cover until the day we bought it.

this my dads first vdrive. i hear that alot from my neighbor. that cool, i remember when i was 5 and my dad would start his jet boat i run and cry as soon as i heard it crank over and i would never get in it at the lake and i would stay at the beach all day but now that im 17 everyone tells me i drive it better then he does. thanks for the info i keep an eye out for him. this is most likely going in this boat

I would agree. Single down pedal and a lock out. You if you plan on running some power you might want to run a seat brace on the rear of the seat down to the stringers. Nice looking project by the way. I am also a fellow v-drive owner.

with that big block you're going to be running that down pedal will be your best friend when she starts to get a little loose on you.

haha. thanks and i will. ok so saturday me and my dad went to the pomona winter national and went to the edelbrock tent and we think we found the heads we are gonna run on the 454

I remember that boat. Hell I didn't even realize that was a vdrive. I have picked up a lot of info since switching over to vdrives. If there is anything I can help just ask. I'm redoing some of the boat now.

I'm making some back to back buckets, changing the gauges, hopefully a different prop, some polishing and anodizing, and fixing some holes that were drilled on the stringers from the previous owner.

sounds like a fun little project.
decided to spent spend some time with miller today polished the scoop and clean the headers im dreading to do the intake and valve covers.

sorry guys nothing going on with the vdrive, but the jet boat on the other hand is going to get some new parts. new 4 degree wedge, new aluminum aa impeller, rebuilding bottom end of 455, new electronic ignition from crane. we need help though, how do i choose the right size wear ring for a jucuzzi 12wj with the energizer kit. its been 10 years since the kit was installed and it will be the first time its been apart should i get any other parts to make this impeller change easy.

yet again sorry no work on the vdrive my dad has been working 65hr weeks for the past 2 months :screwy: and i goto school and when i get home i only want to work on the miller. he finaly got a weekend off so that means elsinore for us tommaro. ;D got her already for the first trip. the newer boat gets to sit. it only seen the water once last summer

we just spent a few shiny pennies at jegs 496 stroker base engine 575 hp 600tq , msd probillet ecuver dissy msd wires and coil and a weiand tunnel ram with 2 600cfm holley carbs $8480.94 ;D night well spent

here are a few parts that we got 2 600 cfm holley vacuum secondaries, msd probillet ecurve dissy (this thing looks awsome under the cap) msd blaster2 motor will be here on the 27 the tunnel willbe here on the 21

the 496 from blueprint engines is here (585.61tq @4600, 592.13hp @5900) i was amazed it made 503tq @3000 rpm and how big the ports were compared to the other 454 ;D ;D ;D sorry for the messy garage

ok i need help this boat came with the standard 4 point motor mounts but it also came with rails, and motor plates i really need help just trying to figure out what wood be a better setup.

it not a bad looking starter for $75 and a lifetime warranty, if my dad doesnt like it ill take and put it on my sbc for my first car. its a win win situation for me ;D. i

I run a cam driven pump. I haven't heard of anyone running a electric pump in a vdrive. Cam driven pumps can be fixed on the river an electric one can not.

well turned in $278 worth of copper and got $260 worth of aluminum and wheels back to finaly start making the dolly for the boat.

ok little update casale is going out to get redone sometime next week. now we are stuck on the floor im trying to get the wood to look nice but my dad wants to coat it or try the bed armor from dupli color. took me about a good 5hrs. to get the point were its at now with 120 grit. but now that i finally graduated high school last week ;D i can finally start working on this thing full time.

or gelcoat the bilge area and carpet the rest...
or take some veneer or vinyl carbon fiber type material and gelcoat over it.

well since march the tunnel ram has been on back order we just got it from fedex today. other than that nothing has been done.

today we went to santa ana and went to embee performance and drop off the headers to get ceramic coated black were going to pick them up next monday and might drop of a few milk crates of parts we were thinking of a black and blue theme with all the parts in side the boat then if i convince the father (i think im close) vinyl carbon fiber floor. i thought powder coating would cost alot of money but when they said $80 for a milk crate of parts i was really suprised

well here is a little update. we bought a new tci flexpate and champion sparkplugs. 1 gallon of gelcoat (grey) for the floor, and 1 quart of filler for the floor. My dad is getting 4 feet of 4x4 wood so i can finish the dolly and get the boat of the trailer already so we can get the trailer sandblasted, powder coated, and get new ss fenders

i saw that for sale i think on CL and RDP for $500. thats a hell of a steal. does it have a bassett scoop?

were making are own rail kit .ok so im looking at the strut plate support. the original piece was only a singal piece of aluminum but the previous owners made it so it has 2 pieces of aluminum what im wondering what is the point of the change.

The dolly is almost done just need to finish one side then carpet the bunks then bolt them on
overall height 23" trailer is 20"
Overall width 37" trailer is 41"
Then after that comes the challenge to clean under our awning so the boat can fit under their

so over the weekend i put the carpet on the bunks and showed my dad the holley ultra hp 750 and he said to order them. after the first time we start the engine i get to order them and the 600's will be passed down to my project boat (the miller). the 450's on that will be passed down to the parts crate

ordered a few things the over day from cp here is $600 of that order

took the casale to casale yesterday there doing seals, bearing, swirl away, and 15% gears then we got the bell housing today
we decied the color scheme of aluminum parts of the boat are going to be: black, blue, and polished

alright i sent him a pm on performance boats. i was thinking about what we were going to do to the trailer and though how about get the powder coat off the wheels and polish them, led lights and paint the trailer blue. Then I spent half the day trying to find "THE" blue and I found it dupli color paint shop system deep blue. then i asked the faja what he wanted to do he like the wheel and light idea but he wanted white which do you guys think would look better

ok so went to the neighbors and got some more part were going to nickel plate the strut, skeg, and rudder. then i put the old rails in just to see where the motor will sit. then im looking at the back of the boat and notice the cavitation rod holes are starting to crack and chips and the deck is starting to crack. while the casale is sitting in the room it has been leaking so we have to take it back. then last thursday my dad took the calgo steering to gs marine to get rebuilt

went back to the neighbors and got the throttle pedal and cavitation rod assembly but we can decide blue pillow blocks and black back plate or the opposite

we went and had the calgo steering rebuilt at gs marine notice this place was like half a block from where we store our other boat. other than that this boat has just been sitting waiting for its turn to be finished

took the trailer to work today and payed one of the guys $50 to sandblast it after work
