I know I was warned!! ::) so I paid 200 for it. ;D now I have it home and Im learning things! the casal has no shifter, so does that mean it needs a trany? or its in gear at all times? Its got lots of stringer rails and other stuff! so Im looking to buy stuff! does any one have a w/pump and v style timing cover for a 455 olds. any one know what hull this is?

Looks like a real smoking deal for $200! (The wheels on the trailer are worth that prolly). Congrats!
As far as the Casale? HDrider and GT Jets would be yout best bet for info. My thinking was all Casale's had F-N-R, and a trans only added gears if you had enough power to use them. But Best get some good pics of the unit and the insides of the thing and ask those guys. Looks like it was set up for a down pedal but all the hardware is missing as well.

Your Casale box is prolly gonna be just in n out, they just take a short handle bolted onto the lever on the box.

Has a locking handle for cav control! NO handle any where on the gear! looked at casal web, shows a heavy duty gear w/out shift. so now what add a warner 1:1 gear??? I dont think im suposed to start in gear? but thats a ways away! Thanks for the congrats! now if the jet leaves my wife wont even know till the cover is removed... O0 can any one ID the hull?? gonna need to come up with a water pump and a rear mount 455 olds...hell if it is a 455... trying to find out what # mean now! the block has a 357 on it.

If the Casale has no in/out you'll either need a T350 T400 or Velvet drive (tiny/heavy trans) other wize you'll be in gear all the time (no Bueno) Trannys in flattys are cool let me know where you go with this and if I can help you Tom
heres my Schiada Flat T350 and reprogrammed TCI shifter for reverse pattern trans

so if this is an olds then what? I know GM parts swap but trannys too? ok its a 455 cast#396021 and heads are cast#394548. so I believe its all good.. and it has a single carb tunnel ram intake! so how do I bolt up a velvet drive to this? 1:1 or reduction gear? should I find a olds trany? too many ???? too soon?
-
Trannys are not a problem for the Olds. Any Buick, Olds, or Pontiac tranny will fit (Dime a dozen, and go for a TH400), including Powerglides designed for them (Kinda rare). Chebbie transmissions won't fit, but that's a minor affair.

Thr trannys are really just there in case you run out of shit to polish ;)

I'v done the v-drive and trannys in silverton and carver yachts, same thing right? whats the tranny bracket like? do I set up the angle and make one? solid mount of course! what does the output end on the tranny look like? where can I buy a BOOK?!?! :screwy:

Trannys in flattys are cool!
That would be cool, I have to agree! A five O' clock shadow, unshaven legs and a full length dress would be a must!
However we are talking about boats here!
That is a steal!
