Title: WTB older Schwinn beach cruiser
Post by: crewchief22 on December 05, 2011, 10:24:46 PM
My daughter wants a beach cruiser bicycle.  I don't want to spend the crazy amount of money they want for some of the cool bikes around, and can't bring myself to spend $100 for the China crap at the bargain stores.

I'm either looking for a complete decent bike for a fair price or I'm looking for a beater with some good parts that I can overhaul.

If you have anything you are willing to part with, let me know.  You might be suprised what I'll buy.  ;)

Do a seach on craigs or ebay...I have two old schwinns (both 60's era, ones a spitfire)and my girlfriend has 56 girls. Her daughter has a fair lady stingray with 3 speed and hand brakes. All the full size have the two speed kick back hub and schwinn parts. I put some worksman(20's era) rims on my main cruiser. I also have pressed brass/copper pipe down the seat post to add strength as they will bend with a person over 180. Good luck....

I HATE stupid people

I won an ebay auction for a '57 Schwinn a couple days ago and now the #$%^ won't sell it for the bid amount.  I knew there was a chance the bike was not as nice as he stated in the ad considering he had (0) ebay history and only posted 1 out of focus picture.
I made an offer based on what I could see and prepared myself for a piece of crap if I did get it.  After I won the auction for under $150.00 I was pleased, but got this email the next day...

Hey Keith,
THe bid on the bid on the bike is nothing near what I'm asking for it.  This bike is a all orginal vintage Swhwinn.  I have all the serial numbers to the bike.  I may just put it on craigslist.
Thanks Ray- 2011martinez30

I contacted ebay and advised them of the situation but, because I didn't pay for the item yet there wasn't much they could do.

Can I repeat myself here and say "I HATE stupid people"

They can scar him for selling it for no reserve. What type are you looking for..If just a old cruiser, they are all over. I had a complete 63 panther, more a touring. It had both racks and tank with horn on tank...sold it for 180. Bought both the girlfriends 56 and the daughters 73 on ebay and were shipped from new york under 200. How much and is there a specific model your interested in...might sell one of mine.

Not looking for something real specific, just want a decent rider that is obviously a classic not a reproduction.

Keith I have one you can have for free.  It looks a lot like the one Your Mom has without the basket on front and a springer front end.  It has a rack on back and is real clean.  It will need two new tires and the coaster brakes don't work well but hey its free.

And NO for any of you other guys its gonna cost a bit more  >:D
