Terry, I'm in for this event unless I find something horribly wrong in my motor. Been too busy to tear into it yet.

Havn't seen many full stringer Challengers.
Did yours come that way or did you have full stringers put in.

Glad to hear that Terry. There were a lot of good quality 1/4 stringers boats built, Challenger being one of them.

This event is a Western Divisional Championship for CompJet. That being said, I learned that single event memberships are not allowed to participate. You will need to sign up for a full year membership. So if you are planning for just being a single event member for this event, please beware.

This is the reasoning that Ross gave over on PB. I was a little irritated at first, but it does make sense with his explanation.

Quote
The reason they do that is to keep the one time a year racer from coming out, screw the points up for the field that is racing the rest of the year as well as to prevent a "ringer" from coming out and winning and then not to be seen again until the next year.

Went and checked out the races yesterday for the day. The weather was good and the racing was awesome! When we got there the divers were floating some debris off the course. It turned out to be 3-4 pieces of scaffolding with some heavy chain attached to it. Some of the talk was that it could have been the light bar set-up from the drags in the past. Whatever it was for it had been down there for awhile.

The nostalgia jets ran with the nostalgia endurance. They were having fun and held there own with the v-drives. At one point in the race boat 5 was completley airborne coming out of the second turn.

Heat one for comp jet was on hold for awhile. A boat in the PS class was having spin out issues went over in turn two. The driver was ok and the boat was pulled up and out of the water. Sorry for the crappy pic :-\ I don't have a super duper zoom lens.

Heat one for comp jet got underway and in all honesty I'm not too sure what the standings were when it was done. Mark in CJ 169 finished first  and Ron in CJ 511 finished in second. These two battled it out the whole race. Brad went into turn one and spun out hard!!

Heat two was an awesome race! It was the last race of the day. All the boats piled into the first turn. Nick CJ 21 was on the inside and was gone! He led the whole race by half a track length. Mark in CJ 169 spun out in the first turn putting him in last. He worked all the way back into second place I believe. Ron in CJ 511 took third and Brad in CJ 888 took fourth.

Here are the results from the weekend that I got from Terry which came from the APBA scorer.

[attachimg=1]

[attachimg=2]

I am less then thrilled about the weekend. It was another tough weekend for the Crazy Eights.

The first heat I had lane 7 (out of 7 boats)....I went into the first turn fast hoping to get some decent placement out of the turn. The boat whipped around with zero warning. It was probably the most violent spin I have been in yet. I honestly thought it was going to roll on me. I have some amazing video and you can see me almost get tossed out of the seat, but managed to hang in there. I recovered and got back into the race. Every time I was in lane 2, the pump unhooked and unloaded - again with no warning. I wasnt spilling out, just coming to a complete stop waiting for it to fill back up with water. I managed to chase down 1 boat and took 6th in the first heat.

The 2nd heat was a little better. I started in lane 2 and was neck-n-neck with Ron in the CJ511 fighting for 2nd place until Mark in the CJ169 passed both of us like we were standing still leaving us to fight for 3rd place. Again, the pump unloaded in the last turn and Ron got me by a boat length putting me in 4th.

Sunday was a new day. I drew lane 2 again and got a good position coming out of the first turn. Going into turn 2, the CJ288 had come up short in the turn and gassed it as I went around him. I drove right through his roost and it was just enough water to get in the scoop and stall the motor. It took some time, but I got it restarted, but the race was over at that point. Mark in the CJ169 had some serious issues with his hull - it completely separated at the transom and was gunna go down. He beached it in an attempt to save it from going down.

Right before the last heat on Sunday I fired it up to make sure it was going to start after being hosed down. I only had 10lbs of oil pressure and it would jump up to 25lbs when i revved it up. I decided to throw in the towel rather then hurt the motor. I did not make it out for the final heat.

We ended up dead last over all for the weekend.

Thanks to Daniel and Roy for all the hard work and help this weekend.  :beer:
