This is the thread to document the build of the Stroked Big Block Ford.

Machine work and build by Dave @ A&D Engines

Build and Moral Support by Brunt Racing

Started out with a 4.440 0.080 Over Block

Scat Series 9000 Cast Crankshaft 4.15" Stroke, std main, 2.2 rod
JE SRP Forged Flat Top Pistons
Scat H-Beam 6.700" Rods

so its all coming together
the block is getting a final hone at .005 piston to wall clearance

David making sure it's flat before hone

i was excited to see this process because i had never seen it done. David has done it so many times he looks bored

pops working on the pistons before balance, getting all the rough and sharp edges off to fight detonation

we will post final bearing clearance #'s as soon as Brad measures them, as well as assy pics

yes, its alive

took me 4 hours flat to get home...was anxious to see jen before she headed back to AZ, but she left before i got here. $:-\$

well the motor is done....but i need to make changes like add a oil temp gauge, put in a beefy-er oil pump shaft, bigger carb (the 850 aint gunna cut it anymore $:-\$ )

anyways.....i got my work cut out for me to get the boat wrapped up and finished. its going to be a rough week.

thank you to Dave @ A & D Engines for all the machine work done....and more importantly, opening up his shop and letting us thrash on this motor until the wee hours of the night. Your attention to detail and thoroughness is impeccable.

and i cant thank ralph and his pops enough. ever. ...over the past couple of years, its unknown how many hours (and late night ones at that) they have been there to help me slam on my shit in a crunch to get it done. no matter what obsticles we run into, they always manage to come through and make it happen. thank you thank you thank you.

and thanks to '76 Nordic for the help on the heads!

Brad and Ralph...Glad you are both happy...It was an 18 hour day

(and a rough one at that )

Final Assembler's responsibility for insuring engine life :

1. Set up oil pump shimming/blueprinting etc. ( If desired )

2. adjust rod bearing clearances . ( If desired )

and you all know the rest.

ok so here are some pics and info
we got to a&d engines at 6am saturday morning to assemble Brads 514 (yes we start early)

david going over the finer points of his machine work

before we start checking to see if the clearances are where we asked them to be.

the marks you see on the bearings are from the micrometer

torquing the mains to 110 before measuring

david was so gracious to pull one of his strands of hair from his head to show brad that it was a mere .001 thick

Report from the River.....

Testing went VERY well yesterday....motor runs very strong and hard. i laid it out for a good 1/4 mile. it still needs a tune, but to tune it here is pointless as the air conditions in Burley (humidity, altitude, etc) are MUCH different then parker. i will work out the tuning bugs on test day in Burley. More pictures to come once i get back home tomorrow. Today is a lazy day on the river.

now the fun begins....the pin hold on the brass dist gear wont line up and its pressed on there good.
