Fellas,
fairly new to the boating world and have a question for you guys,,
I have a 79' Carlson CV23. I've heard people call it a mini day, and a day cruiser.
What is the difference between the two?

Not a huge difference. The typical "Day Cruiser" is normally 21'-23' and has an area large enough under the deck to stretch out. Typically will have a raised deck that is pretty tall. Sanger made the "double Bubble" and Spectra made both a mini, called the Spectra 20' and they also built a mini called the Spectra 19'. Nordic did something very similar.

I would call a CV23' a Day cruiser. Had a customer that had a blue metal flake/light blue one with blue/white diamond tuck interior, loved that boat.

A mini Day cruiser typically is not longer than about 20'...
It is definitely not an exact science...LOL

Kind of what I was thinking. Above 20 feet, and a little cuddy.
Mine is the sky blue, with dark blue metal flake. It's a total project boat, but i'm am really looking forward to it.
Hope to have it on the lake in 2015!

actually, brandons boat is a Nordic mini day cruiser, not a full as you labled. I think its only 19' as well.

also the 20' southwind is a daycruiser, has as much freeboard as any other 18' boat out there...

My spectra was a 18 mini dat cruiser. Looked similar to brad and Brandon boat

 These are what I call day cruisers. Like glen said, anything with a little cabin under the deck i would consider a day cruiser. Mini days I would consider a more low profile 19-20 footer

those are what I myself consider a Day Cruiser. Wider, deeper, longer, and a little cuddy.
I was just wondering what other people consider a Day vs. Mini.
To me, both style boats are sexy!

I guess my 21' day cruiser has been down graded to a mini-day cruiser (no cabin)...
It has 24" of transom above the pump...
Works well for a river boat on the lake (6-8' swells @ Mead), or a lake boat on the river (floats is ankle deep water).
Oh.. and not a mc-mercriuser.

It is a Mini-Daycruiser. But it's labeled as a 20'. (Actually measures 19'7")
