Going to be installing new carpet in week or so as soon as the humidity goes back down. What is a good carpet glue, the Home Depot indoor/outdoor carpet glue or should I spriong for the caarpet glue at West Marine?  Any thoughts or ideas?......

Is it a big price difference?
I did it a long time ago and  can't remember what glue I used.
The carpet seemed to hold well for a couple of years until I had my whole interior replaced.
I would think that as long as you clean the floor real good, the HD stuff would be fine.

Just make sure you have plenty of ventilation!

Are you talking about the type that comes out of a can or spray gun? I tried the can type and it didn't work that well for me.

I used the home depot type with great results and with their outdoor carpet. I make sure to prep the surface as instructed. I've had inches of rain water in the hull and it not separate.

I used the Home D indoor/outdoor glue... you have to trowel it on. I went a step further and put marine foam under the carpet.  Make sure to seal your wood first if its going over untreated wood. Works well over fiberglass.

HD glue it is. I got the carpet at HD as well, green in/out carpet.
I think the spray is the 3M stuff and that works well on car headliners but at 15.00 a can for carpet would be pricey will post photos when complete

I used the West Marine glue for the interior 6 or 7 years ago, holding up great Used HD glue for the trailer bunks, which take alot of abuse, and it is holding up great Big price difference too

I used the Home Depot stuff with a trowel over resin sealed wood. I installed it in 2009, still looks like the day I put it in.

Good I'm not the only one doing carpet... I think I'm going to use some astro turf stuff. And I've been some research and I think the HD glue with work just fine. I am also looking at some indoor/outdoor carpet, but I'm not sure how well it will hold up. With all the water and what not.

Action backed marine grade solution died carpet and Chapco trowel on glue with 3/16" notch.

Contact adhesive is very unforgiving and messy in my opinion.

Depends on application. One guy working by himself laying 20' of carpet with open bow,  console cut outs, two floor lockers and built in sub boxes...  Vs a closed bow with a fraction of the square footage.

I have the bright blue Home D carpet in mine...its not bad. If you trowel the glue to thick it will bleed through the backing. True marine grade carpet has a solid backing and will not bleed though. Follow directions and once carpets laid let it sit for a few days before walking on it.
