Think I might actually have ya covered on the Alt delio got to go to the shop to get the Big boat after a bit I'll "research" the Vault ,we rerigged a TX 16' a couple years back that had an alty mt on the motor rail to drive line  Tom

  I knew I should have called you Tom.   Anyway, heres what I came up with today from the boxes of leftover parts around here .   I used one of the old cav plate adjusters I had laying around and a little chrome alt bracket from Kragens (total cost $14  ).  Looks like its working ok so far .   But now I think I need to do something about that fugly old alt (nice chrome one  ) , but that can wait, this ones works and it fits.

Back to the garage now to figure out somekind of battery mount and a few other things

That's Badass, looks totally like it belongs there. The only change I think I would have made would be to flip it around to make a shorter path fo the electrical and protect from the belt a little better, (opinions are like a**holes, we've all got em).

 If you mean flip the alt to the front side of the belt, I thought about that  .  But I want to make somekind of driveshaft hoop and it would have been it the way.  The drive shaft is long enough to reach the hull when conected to the motor and that scares me  .

Here is a ruff sketch of the hoop we have used in the WW boats, bolts like a motormount to the rails.

Uses a 3-1/2" 1/4" wall piece of aluminum pipe around the shaft, worked sweet.

That's a great idea GT Jets !!!   I was thinking something similar but without the pipe, but I really like the idea of the pipe  .   Safety first  , just the thought of that drive shaft breaking loose and flailing around back there at 6000 rpm (breaking the pump the intake or ripping a hole in the hull) was enough for me to say I wont run it without a drive shaft hoop and a strong flex plate cover.  You never know what could happen, and I really don't want to have to send divers after my boat  .

 I scrounged up some material for the transom plates and got them cut out tonight.  I made patterns out of masonite first (same thickness) than just transferred the shape to the aluminum and cut it with my new jigsaw  , (the old one died a sad and smelly death trimming the motor plates ).  Still have a little more trimming to do but there close.

Brian, the headaches are part of the fun, right  . 

I got everything around the pump mocked up and ready to come back apart for polishing, now on to the drive shaft hoop, battery mount, brackets to mount the diverter handle, throttle, steering, wiring, gauges, etc, etc, etc  .  If this thing is not on the water for Labor Day the motor is going back in the old boat and this one will be FOR SALE !!!

I like the alt placement, I am just wondering how well they hold up to being very wet.  I get waves over the back regularly when the wakeboard boats go by, and the water can get pretty deep back there when you "accidentally" take off with the place divertor pointed up

   I didn't think about that  .  Thanks for pointing that out, better to do something about it now before there's a problem.  Looks like I just found another part to make (big splash guard).  Me and my bright ideas .

 A little more progress    .   

 The pump brace / drive shaft hoop is mounted (what a bit## !!!), but it fits perfect.   Now I can tension the alt belt without pulling the pump to one side  .

 Brackets for the batt and the diverter handle are done and mounted.  Excuse the mess, it was late

 We also made the mounts for the ride plate adjusters today. So that's all ready to go together, I just need to get some bolts for it (pics to come).  Only things left are to mount the seats , finish the ride plate, and cut the dash for the steering / gauges.  Than pull it back apart,finish the floors and put it all back together again  .   Its getting there

 Here's some more progress pics    I got sick of the mess in there so first I cleaned up the metal shavings  than went to work 

 Dash panel made, gauge holes cut, and helm mounted .   Tom, I love my deck mount tach !!!

 Ride plate is mounted and the brackets for the turnbuckles are made.  Still need to get some angle to brace the plate.

The seats and diverter handle are also mounted now.  The pass seat sucks (build very crooked) , looks like I need to get in touch with Skip (Luckystiff) this winter for some new seats.    More money in this thing.

 Oh btw ,  The boat killed another power tool today,  that makes 3 !!  One belt sander, one jig saw, and now one drill .  I was drilling the holes for the gauges (strange smell filling the air  ) when all of a sudden smoke starts pouring out of the drill  .  It started going slower and slower but my dumb a## just sits there looking at it and pulling the trigger over and over until a huge ball of sparks came shooting out of it  !!  At which point I threw it across the garage    I showed it who's the boss    .
