Things that Don and I did today. Thanks Don!
1. I removed the trailers fenders.

2. Damages from previous neglect (not waxing it, missing fender skirt with a bolt sticking out of the fender, etc...)

3. OMFG what a pain in the assss, welded up some bunk supports in the middle of the long 10' bunks.

4. I got paint to match the white on the side, and then realized that I was matching really dirty white which isn't going to work properly. I'm getting the correct shade tomorrow.

5. I painted the valve covers and air scoop. The scoop turned out horrible and will need to be redone. The valve covers look awesome.
6. Added side lights to the trailer and replaced a taillight.


Things I still need to do.
1. The engine's aluminum needs to be cleaned.
2. Install valve covers.
3. Finish paint touchups.
4. Pinstripe the trailer.
5. Replace defective bildge pump.

Somehow the valve covers changed color overnight as they were drying.    I was using a trick paint. Now they're sh!t brown.  . Looks like I'm repainting the valve covers as well.

I found the front buckets felt "a little looser"  so since I have soooo much time on my hands    I decided to take the front seats apart and have a look at them.
 
So I found some rotten and busted wood in them, apparently dumping resin on them is not enough. I cut new pieces of wood out, took the old wood out, air nailed the wood pieces together, put some saturated cloth in there with some resin, air stapled (yes I bought one, still a little black on the thumb nail) the vynl over the resin and wood, and covered the wood with resin. If the resin ever dries    the seats will be good for several more seasons if taken care of.

My friend Don is doing some incredible work on this boat. A large array of wet sandpaper, spray cans, a buffer, pro detailers type products, and a ton of patience. He's being honing his paint repair skills on his boat for several years now and his boat looks killer as far as finish and paint. Thanks so much Don.

Yeah, I didn't think it would show up. Anywho    the overspray you see is on the paint , in the air, and everywhere else. He uses mineral spirits to get the overspray off as long as it hasn't been sitting on the surface for more than an hour. Tougher overspray he uses a clay bar.

Oh yeah, I allmost forgot. I got new gauges for it.    Right now I think the tach is off, I've got 3 different brands and 4 different models or looks so this will be huge in it's overall appearance. Here's a crappy pic.

6. Install the floater bar that holds the bow of the boat to the trailer.

It will be done tomorrow night.    What a difference this boat has got since I acquired it 3 weeks ago.

I was reading my own post, because I already forgot what I typed, and we painted the wheels with _______ chrome out of a spray can.    . Hey give me a break, it does look better.

I replaced the gauges, it only took me another hour and a half. The small gauges were about 1/16" bigger than the old small gauges. I dremmeled out the holes. The large gauges were also bigger, however I didn't have todremmel out the holes. The new gauges must have been the same size as the original large gauges the boat had because the new gauges covered up the bright blue metalflake gel coat "ring" that showed around the old large gauges.    Here's another crappy pic.

Well Beer jet should have definately bet me. It's not done.

Things I have to do:
1. Install the floater bar.
2. pinstripe the trailer.
3. Fix the flockin tach.

Fenders are on and painted. Booger welds on them but they're strong. I moved them out 3/4".

... and in my typical fashion decide that I have too much time on my hands and I spent a minute making the trailer match the boat.

A prediction: The floater bar will get installed tomorrow, the tach will get fixed and/or the old tach will go in tomorrow, and the trailer will never get pinstriped because now the trailer "goes with" the boat.

I got to fix my flockin tach     install the floater bar    and get some freakin' sleep 

The fam and I are leaving SD around 6:00 tonight and going to HD's house to fall on the floor for some more sleep (thanks HD!). Make it an early morning Saturday and go to the AVI with it.    It'll go up for sale there Saturday afternoon, maybe say $4250 OBO, I don't expect it to sell there though as I love this damn boat and I'll probably put it on the river all day so it doesn't sell.    I have to sell it though as I've got an engine at a guys house waitring for some $ and selling the High Life is the only option that I have. But all is good, becaue the Rogers is a no joke bad asssed boat. Too bad the High Life couldn't have been the family boat and the Rogers that boat that finaly kicks Ralph's assss (Hi Ralph  ). I got to be nice to Ralph though because he has the Ford handicap.    and I hear he has this shed and if you piss him off...
