LS install Crusader tunnel
« on: August 29, 2011, 10:32:28 PM »
well after going back and forth on what to do, I decided to go for it. I have wanted to do an LS for years now. My brother has a LM7 that has been sitting for months just calling my name. After going back and forth we decided to try some different combos and just have some fun.  A fellow board member came through and gave me a mock up block to design some motor plates and I have been hard at it. This weekend we pulled the BBC and prepped the boat. The boat already has a nice fuel system(carb setup), so we decided to use as much as we already have. The plan was to go EFI single turbo, but the budget started to get a little out of hand. In keeping it simple we decided to go with an E85 blow thru setup and see what it'll do. I have plenty of experience with efi systems and tuning, but have always wanted to see what all the blow thru fuss is about. I am hoping to have the engine in the boat within the next few days, and get all the details sorted before the carb shows up in a couple weeks. I am still missing some parts small parts so if anyone has a line on some stuff(starter/flexplate/alternator) I would appreciate the help. So here we go...

BBC out

Getting all the dims, its was a pia, had to be creative...

My mill wish I had the resources you guys have, can't wait to see. You can also see the height difference on these plates vs. The ones I gave you. Also I got my motor from A&B truck salvage, they will have plenty of starters and alternators. They had a longblock 5.3 there you could probably take the flexplate off.I'd only deal with the white tweaked dude there, he knows where everything is.

The valve covers are the same junky aluminum castings, if you want mine without the coil mounts you can have them. I have polished ones I'm using

I have a whole rack of those coil packs, you can have them if you want. Also that plastic filler neck unthreads and the cap can thread right into the valve cover

I'll take whatever parts you have. I was in your hood today. I had to run up to Oceanside, and pick up a turbo. As far as progress the carb is getting done, turbo is picked up, more parts are ordered. I wanted to have the block in by now but the parts I was having waterjetted are taking forever, if they aren't done by Tuesday I will just do them myself. Just gotta keep at it...

got some more work done

I happened to be designing the side pieces to bolt to the front plate when the power went out last week, lost about 6 hours of work, totally my fault. I have been working on it little by little this week, I have a version 2.0 already done, its much sexier...

the choke horn is milled off for flow/turbulence reasons, and its on the primary side. E85 spilled out when I opened the package, they ran it on the dyno before shipping to me, sure smelled good. It brought back a lot of memories and put some pep in my step...

Hit a little snag, changed my mind on the turbo size, and mfg. I have some pretty high tech turbo technology on the way soon...
