Motor swap ?
« on: February 10, 2012, 02:33:24 PM »
I'm looking at buying another  boat it has a 455 motor but the heads are blown it's has a Berkeley pump. I have a boat with a 460 and with a jaquzzi pump. I want to put the 460 motor into the boat with the 455 what I have to do and buy to make this happen?

After doing the math on this exact swap I decided NO.  If you add up the cost of new mounts, alternator, intake and exhaust, and maybe driveline work I decided it would be too expensive.  I have may have an entire motor (455) to part out in the next few weeks if you just want some usable heads.

If he's pulling the 460 out of a boat it should already have mounts. Depending on what mounts are on the 460 it should be a straight up swap. As long as the stringer widths are near the same you it wouldn't be that bad. I'd go for it
