Difficult, no. Hazardous though. I looked  into  doing it myself as a side business. It didn't  seem worth it in the end.

Usually home ano dosent look ass good in color as the pros do it. Many people make the mistake not to polish there stuff before anodizing so it dosent turn out the way they thought

Join www.homeshopmachinist.net and search... depending on what you wanna do, it's fairly simple.  You can do basic anodizing with a Homer bucket, some battery acid, and a decent battery charger.  Colors are simply dye, then a sealant.  Check out Caswell Plating for home anodozing kits and more info.  I've never done it on purpose, only by accident as a process to dissolve busted taps from aluminum

The work is in the polishing, I have done it on small parts and it comes out OK... I am sticking with powder coating from now on.

Powder coating is awesome. I took two ovens, cut off the sides and welded them together so I could do some bigger stuff. I've also cured really big stuff in front of one of those propane tank top heaters.

Have not done the process myself but every annodised part I have ever had faded due to UV exposure.

So I have the same faded anodized rub rail that most people have what is the fix I thought about buyen new but will fade again can I have my rub rail that I removed powder coated since it's already formed to the boat ? Or have it re anodized

Any time ive had some stuff powder coated its seems to have small pin holes..      not sure if the place i went just sucks or if all powder coat is like that.. So now I just paint everything and clear with a industrial clear and that has worked out perfect. Im sure when it comes down to it that powder coat is stronger but from my personal experience and my own preference its not nice enough and always has imperfections. Plus its a piece of cake to fix a chip if you happen to damage it, spot base and blend clear and wala nothing ever happend. Chip ur powder and good luck fixing that with out redoing it all.

thought about doing that as will but that's just more sanding and prepping and I've had enough

A buddy of mine has a powder coating business here in yucca. The oven is big enough to do a boat trailer. Been in business for about 8 years. From what I've seen and had done, it's all in the prep and the quality of the product.
