Yes there's holes drilled behind the angle that lets the water come out. It keeps the boat perfectly in neutral when on the holding rope. 👍👍👍👍

Haha no worries, I don't mind.
The pop off slows the boat down at the end of the run. 👍👍 the black thing on the clean out of the pump

....and that just let jet thrust escape thru there instead of pushing the boat forward.....

ive heard it can also be used to control the amount of thrust going out of nozzle and thereby controlling how fast the boat goes. for bracket racing.  can be set in a comp to do so automatically at a given point and how much to open valve.  less things for the driver to worry about while making a pass.
i havent heard of it being used as a brake, if you will.

on most systems there only a open and closed on the popoffs. There's really no way to Control how much the valve opens because it's ran on air. The most you will see it slow you down is 2 10ths if it's open from a to b. It's really used as a saftey device to get all that excess pressure out so we can let off the gas and not get thrown out of the boat because off the pressure/ hardware under the boat.

Yeah I've seen it. Many times. I was there that weekend when they filmed it.

It comes down to this. when you pop the valve open water comes out of the clean out but it still loads the bowl up with pressure. Unless you unload the pressure "aka" drop a few 100 RPMs you will not slow down a whole lot.
I've got time slips in the hauler that show if you have the valve open from the tree to the end of 1320ft = a consistent 1/10th off of our e/t compared to a full track pass with the valve closed. I also use the valve to mess with hydros that come screaming passed me sometime. Hope they slam off the peddle. Lol!

Also in that video you can hear the boat on the 2 step for about 2 to 4 seconds mid run. Slowing it down even more.

That track sucks! It's always a battle for use there because the water is always messed up.
