Trying to find a trailer but not sure about the weight of the boat. I have a 76' Cobra Trihull with a chevy 350/jet. How can I find out the GW of the boat, I dont see anything on the title as far as weight goes. Will most single axle trailers handle an 18ft boat? It has a double now but it's a roach.

Have had a single for 7+ years and I have a heavy 18 cruiser. They are easy to move around when you need to move by hand. Tow straight with no bouncy back and forth.  If I could park it in a better spot might up to a dual for control over a blowout.

my 18' is on a single.  singles suck.  bouncy, and they whip back and forth.  tandems are the way to go.

X2. I have a tandem trailer. Smooth ride and easier to manever and back up.

I ran a single and it did OK. However, after I fixed the sloppy shackes and real shackle bolts it was a very stable and did not whip, bounce or sway. I would go single again it I had too.

Doubles are a status thing at the weight our boats run. Race boats look cool with two tires per side. Your boat would be fine with a single.  A word of warning if you don't plan on a spare, a tandem while carrying some chain to tie up an axle in case of a blowout is nice insurance.  My Dad and I lost two tires/wheels on his Skipjack towing back from Baja 35 years ago. If it wasn't for the spare and the chain we might still be there.

there is one huge diff is putting your boat away, with a single the trailer is easier to move around tandum is kind of a pain they dont want to turn. then there is having to buy tires you gotta buy 4 that sucks.

i have a single towing a 18 ft eliminator jet. no swaying or excessive bouncing for me. Dual just looks cooler though. but now that i have read this thread I'm afraid of what can happen in a blow out

triple axle for an 18'... just cause you can.  heh.

^^^ has never backed a short triple axle with a crewcab.

Single works fine for my 19', but have tandem on the 21' cruiser (2800lb)

I have a single and I get no bounce or sway even at up to 85 mph on freeway for passing the people on the cell phones going slow.  I had a blow out on the way to lake un Pleasent in aug. and it still had no sway

One of my buddy's had a triple on this 21' Ultra, said he loved it... I never had to move it or even drive it though, so can't speak from personal experience.

i cant even imagine turning with a triple axle trailer... let alone doing anything else with one.
